Register Today To Become a Metropolitan Mentor or Mentee

The Metropolitan Mentors program is designed to create long-term relationships between club members.

Mentors will be recruited to participate annually in October and November each year, with an invitation to mentees taking place in December and January.

The program will officially kick off with an introductory event in February.

Mentors and mentees should meet monthly at the club from March-September – for a total of seven interactions. In October, the club will bring together all the mentors and mentees for a closing event to celebrate the connections made and the progress created.

Benefits of participation:

  1. Skill Development – Mentees can gain new skills, knowledge, and insights from their mentors, helping them grow in their chosen field or area of interest.

  1. Networking – Mentoring provides an opportunity for mentees to expand their professional network through their mentor’s connections.

  1. Career Advancement – Mentoring can assist mentees in setting and achieving career goals, whether it’s climbing the corporate ladder, starting a business, or pursuing a specific career path.

  1. Personal Growth – Mentors can offer guidance on personal development, work-life balance, and interpersonal skills.

  1. Knowledge Transfer – Mentoring helps pass down valuable institutional knowledge and expertise from experienced individuals to the next generation.

  1. Boosting Confidence – Mentees often gain confidence and a sense of direction from having a supportive mentor.

Mentor Expectations:

  1. Define Goals - Clearly outline the objectives and goals of your mentoring. Are you focusing on career development, personal growth, or a specific skillset.

  1. Prepare Goals and Objectives - Be prepared to ask for specific guidance and advice on your goals, plans, and strategic ideas.

  1. Regular Check-ins - Set a cadence for regular check-ins and meetings. Monthly is recommended, but the frequency is up to each individual mentor and mentee.

  1. Inspire Your Mentee - Your Mentee is eager to learn, be sure to challenge them to achieve their goals.

Mentee Expectations:

  1. Prepare Goals – Be prepared to ask for specific guidance and advice on your goals, plans, and strategic ideas.

  1. Show Progress – Come to every meeting/call prepared to give updates on your goals.

  1. Take the Initiative —Demonstrate openness to feedback and that you’ve followed advice or commitments for action.

  1. Be Respectful — Always be considerate of your mentor’s time and return communications promptly.
