The Metropolitan Club was founded in 1991 and has become one of Greater Cincinnati’s most unique and distinctive business and social clubs

The Mission of the Metropolitan Club is to unite diverse leaders in our region who desire to make a difference in our community. Our Vision is to facilitate the unification and well-being of our region as well as serve our Members with excellence and quality. And the Club is guided by our Three Pillars: Business Matters, Community Matters and Belonging Matters.

The Metropolitan Award is presented to a citizen of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Community who has exhibited exponential effort toward improving the lives of our citizens, and who has made significant contributions toward the unification of our community.

Our History

The Metropolitan Club was founded in 1991 by William P. Butler, Chairman, Corporex Cos., and Daniel T. Fay, Chairman & Founder, Commonwealth Hotels, LLC. Their purpose and desire was to create a unique and distinctive business and social Club that would unite our region’s business and community leaders and stakeholders who desire to make a difference in our community though giving back. Unique to its Mission, the Metropolitan Club shares annually a portion of its profits with local non-profits and since 1991 has provided over $1.8 million to charities.

Dress Code

Metropolitan Club members and their guests are kindly asked to comply with our dress code of “casual elegance” while at the club. We recommend you and your guests “dress up,” not down. Gentlemen’s hats are to be removed while at the club. Well-kept dress denim in a dark shade is acceptable. Shorts, t-shirts, hoodies, workout attire, sandals, flip-flops, and attire that is torn, worn and/or in need of cleaning or repair are not appropriate.

The following guidelines should help you determine what is and is not casual elegance. It is also important to note that our casual dress code applies to all days of the week.
We request that Members, Prospective Members, and Guests use sound judgment when considering your attire at The Metropolitan Club:
  • Members & prospective members are asked to wear smart business or casual elegance attire, appropriate for the occasion or event.
  • The Roebling Room enjoys a more upscale and inviting environment.
  • Gentlemen’s hats are to be removed while at the Club.
  • Well-kept dress denim in a dark shade is acceptable.
  • Shorts, t-shirts, hoodies, workout attire, sandals, flip-flops, attire that is torn, worn and/or in need of cleaning or repair are not appropriate.
  • Those not following dress code guidelines will be respectfully requested not to wear the inappropriate item(s) to the Club again.
Manner of dress, specified or not, shall at all times be governed by good taste and reflect the character of The Metropolitan Club. If you have questions on attire, please call the Club for clarification: 859-491-2400.
